Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Chapter 34.07 Atlantic Halibut Season

In May 2020, the Department of Marine Resources adopted an emergency rule in order to remain within the state waters subcomponent of the federal Atlantic halibut Annual Catch Limit. Given the emergency rule expired, this rulemaking proposes the same state waters halibut season as was implemented in 2020 (May 18 - June 13) but does so through regular rulemaking. This action is intended to protect and conserve the halibut resource in compliance with the federal management plan and avoid future implementation of accountability measures.

The deadline for public comment is February 12, 2021.
